Virtue K: We Kindly respond

This week marks an exciting journey for our families as we delve deep into exploring and nurturing the virtue of kindness. Drawing from timeless stories and meaningful discussions, we aim to instill a profound sense of empathy, generosity, and compassion in our children. By looking to the examples set by figures such as David, Jonathan, and Jesus, we will focus on embodying kindness, fostering friendship, and spreading encouragement.

Monday: Understanding Kindness

We begin our week by laying the foundation: understanding what kindness truly means. Kindness is more than just being nice; it's a deep-rooted virtue that involves acting for the good of others, even at a personal cost. It's about showing love, offering support, and making sacrifices for the benefit of someone else. This day is an opportunity for you to engage in conversations with your children about the essence of kindness. Discuss different ways to be kind, how kindness feels, and why it's so important in our lives and the lives of those around us.

Tuesday: The Bonds of Friendship

Following our exploration of kindness, we delve into the heartwarming story of David and Jonathan. This narrative teaches us about the power of friendship and the importance of supporting and caring for one another with a kind heart. As parents, encourage your children to share stories about their friendships and reflect on how they can be a kind, supportive friend like Jonathan.

Thursday: Encouragement and Living Water

Midweek brings us to Jesus's encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well, a story that highlights breaking down barriers and the significance of encouragement. It's a powerful example of how kindness can transcend differences and change lives. Use this story to talk with your children about the power of kind words and actions, and how they can spread kindness by uplifting and encouraging others.

Engaging Throughout the Week

1. Daily Reflections

Dedicate a few minutes each evening to discuss when you've seen or practiced kindness throughout the day.

2. Kindness Challenge

Motivate your children to perform acts of kindness and share their experiences with the family.

3. Be The Example

Demonstrate kindness through your actions, showing your children the impact of living out this virtue.

4. Foster Empathy

Encourage your children to consider the feelings and perspectives of others, connecting them to real-life situations and the stories you've shared.

5. Celebrate Kind Acts

Recognize and celebrate your child's acts of kindness, reinforcing the value and importance of this virtue.

Conclusion

By discussing and practicing kindness daily, we help our children grow into compassionate, understanding individuals. Let's use this week as a stepping stone to build a kinder, more empathetic world, starting with our own families. Together, we can create a lasting impact that reaches far beyond our homes.

Warmly,
Jonny & Danika Jordan

About Biblically Centered

We want to help equip your family with knowledge and conversations for you to live and defend your Christian faith.

In recent years, we kept seeing people with our same background walk away from Jesus. In order to prepare our children for the shifting world and culture, we knew we needed to solidify our children's biblical worldview so they will be prepared for the future.

We know it's important to show your children what it means to "live like Christ." We hope that you are inspired to do that with our Biblical Family Virtues.

We reside in Kansas with our 3 children (ages 7, 5, 3). We enjoy being outside and having occasional dance parties.

Blessings, Danika & Jonny Jordan
