Virtue L: We Lead With Patience

In the week ahead, our community will embark on a meaningful journey aimed at fostering the virtue of patience within our families. Through interactive lessons and thoughtful discussions, this week is set to offer a unique opportunity for children and parents alike to explore the depth and importance of patience in their everyday lives. Below, we offer a preview of the activities planned and share advice on how families can continue nurturing patience long after the week has ended.

Monday: The Essence of Patience

We will kickstart the week by delving into the definition of patience, illuminating its significance not just as a virtue but as a practical tool for navigating life's challenges. Children will participate in activities designed to demonstrate patience in action, helping them recognize its presence and importance in various scenarios, from waiting for their turn to play a game to listening attentively to someone else's story.

Parents' Role: Continue conversations about the situations at home, school, or during play where patience plays a key role. Encourage your children to identify moments when they practiced patience throughout their day and discuss how it made a difference in the outcome.

Tuesday: Patience with Others

The focus will shift towards understanding and practicing patience in our interactions with others. This includes learning to listen actively, waiting our turn to speak, and showing empathy towards others' feelings and needs. The day's activities will encourage children to put themselves in someone else's shoes, promoting patience as a form of kindness and respect towards others.

Parents' Role: Foster an environment where patience is both practiced and valued. Acknowledge and praise moments of patience observed in your children, and share your own experiences of when being patient helped you in a situation. Model patience in your daily interactions and explain your thought process to your children.

Thursday: Patience and Perserverence

On this day, we will explore the relationship between patience and perseverance, emphasizing the importance of continuing to try even when things get tough. Through stories and challenges, children will learn that patience is key to achieving goals and overcoming obstacles.

Parents' Role: Support your children in setting personal goals and encourage them to be patient as they work towards achieving them. Share stories of personal or historical figures who demonstrated patience and perseverance to succeed. Celebrate the small steps and progress, reinforcing the idea that patience is often rewarded.

Beyond the Week

As the week of exploring patience concludes, we encourage families to keep the momentum going. Patience is a virtue that grows stronger with practice and is nurtured within a supportive community. Continue to highlight instances of patience in everyday life, set family challenges that require patience to complete, and reflect on the growth and benefits observed from being patient.

In fostering patience, we're not just teaching our children a virtue; we're equipping them with a critical life skill that enhances their interactions, contributes to their well-being, and enables them to face the world with resilience and understanding. Let's commit to making patience a cornerstone of our family values, this week and beyond.

Warmly,
Jonny & Danika Jordan

About Biblically Centered

We want to help equip your family with knowledge and conversations for you to live and defend your Christian faith.

In recent years, we kept seeing people with our same background walk away from Jesus. In order to prepare our children for the shifting world and culture, we knew we needed to solidify our children's biblical worldview so they will be prepared for the future.

We know it's important to show your children what it means to "live like Christ." We hope that you are inspired to do that with our Biblical Family Virtues.

We reside in Kansas with our 3 children (ages 7, 5, 3). We enjoy being outside and having occasional dance parties.

Blessings, Danika & Jonny Jordan
