Virtue O: We Offer Our Time

This upcoming week, we embark on a journey with our children to explore the profound yet simple virtue of prioritizing our time with God, a theme that resonates through stories, discussions, and creative activities tailored for our little ones. As we dive into the virtue of offering our time to God, making it a priority to serve and worship Him, we not only lay the foundation for a life lived with purpose and love but also instill in our children the importance of setting their hearts on what truly matters.

Monday: Virtue of the Week

On Day One, we will introduce the concept of "priority" alongside several Bible verses that illuminate this virtue in a language that speaks directly to the hearts of our children. We aim to make this virtue relatable by discussing everyday scenarios where they can practice putting God first, emphasizing that time with Him is the most special part of any day.

Tuesday: Old Testament Insights

As we move to Day Two, we will share the Old Testament story of Abraham and Isaac. This narrative will serve as a powerful example of unwavering faith and the ultimate act of prioritizing God's will. Our retelling will focus on Abraham's commitment to God, highlighting how Abraham made serving and worshipping God his utmost priority, even when faced with unimaginable decisions.

Thursday: New Testament Wisdom

Day Four brings us to the New Testament with the story of Mary and Martha. Through this tale, we will explore the different ways people can show their love and dedication to God. Mary's choice to sit and listen to Jesus, prioritizing His presence over all else, will be a central theme, providing a contrast to Martha's busyness, and reminding us that being with God and giving Him our attention is just as important as serving.

Conclusion

Throughout the week, we encourage parents to continue the conversation about priorities at home. Discuss with your children how they can make time for God amid their play, studies, and chores. Ask them about moments when they feel closest to God and how they might create more of these moments each day. Encourage them to think of ways they can be like Mary, choosing to prioritize time with Jesus, even when there are other things to do. Similarly, reflect on Abraham's story and discuss the importance of trust and faith in God's plan, even when it's hard to understand.

This week is an opportunity for your family to evaluate and adjust how you prioritize your time. Consider setting aside a special time each day for prayer, Bible reading, or simply talking about God's presence in your lives. It could be during a meal, right before bed, or at the start of your day. The key is to make this time intentional, showing your children that time with God is a priority worth making.

By the end of the week, our goal is for each child to grasp the essence of Virtue O: offering our time to God and making it a priority to serve and worship Him. More so, we hope this week inspires your family to make lasting changes in how you prioritize your time, ensuring that moments with God are not just part of your routine but are cherished and looked forward to.

In this fast-paced world, let us teach our children that the most precious thing we can offer is our time, especially when it's given to God. Together, let's make this week a stepping stone towards a life where God's presence is our priority, guiding us in love, wisdom, and joy.

Warmly,
Jonny & Danika Jordan

About Biblically Centered

We want to help equip your family with knowledge and conversations for you to live and defend your Christian faith.

In recent years, we kept seeing people with our same background walk away from Jesus. In order to prepare our children for the shifting world and culture, we knew we needed to solidify our children's biblical worldview so they will be prepared for the future.

We know it's important to show your children what it means to "live like Christ." We hope that you are inspired to do that with our Biblical Family Virtues.

We reside in Kansas with our 3 children (ages 7, 5, 3). We enjoy being outside and having occasional dance parties.

Blessings, Danika & Jonny Jordan
